Little Or No Medical Insurance?...You're Not Alone
Christmas is a wonderful time to catch up with all your family. This year the subject was all about how my two brothers were going to manage their disabilities without healthcare.
One brother that had the MVA has applied for Temporary Disability while waiting for surgeries and the Auto insurance settlement, and is lucky enough to have a spouse that is working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs to keep their house from going into foreclosure and to have enough money to pay for his prescriptions, medical equipment, etc.
The other brother has already lost his home, and medical insurance, has no permanent job, and was turned down for Disability last year. He has Diabetes, and a heart condition. His only plan at the present time is to hire an attorney to try to get Disability as his education, and physical ability, and no manufacturing jobs in our area doesn't allow him to find permanent work that has insurance. He is getting his prescriptions at a discount and that is the only reason he's been able to keep up with all his medications. He has not seen his physicians in over 6 months as he can't afford the office visits. I am sure they will soon quit renewing the prescriptions, and someway he will have to find the funds to make an appointment with them.
All my family is helping if we can....but we all agree it's unbelievable to us that in the richest country in the world that we DO NOT take care of our people and make sure everyone gets the healthcare they need! So many people are not going to the doctor because they can't afford it so they are letting their health go to the point of no recovery! This is NOT right! Something must be done!
I'd like to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Years!
